AVP-WA is part of a world-wide network of similar groups. The practical objective of AVP is to present experiential workshops. These workshops have been developed to provide people with an opportunity to work towards peace and dignity in an increasingly violent world. They are built upon the belief that people have the capacity to transform hostility and destructiveness into cooperation and community.
AVP-WA is an incorporated, non-profit and self funded educational institution. In its origins and philosophy it has ties to the Religious Society of Friends (Quakers) but it is not a religious organization.
AVP-WA conducts workshops in prisons, schools and for the general community. A new initiative in 2005 is interfaith workshops to try to build bridges between different faiths. Workshops are usually held over two or three days and are led by a team of facilitators.
